California 3D Project, Progress Report No. 9
Underwater shoot June 2014

Summer  is here and the kelp forest is thriving this year off California.  We made a few trips with Bob’s boat and captured nice footage of a bright orange Garibaldi fish with his rocky-reef nest.  This still photo is a frame grab from our 3 D footage, it shows the male fish grooming his bed of algae on the rock face.

We captured the dance of the male, complete with his distinctive come-hither clucking, which attracts a female.  We also got the egg-laying footage.

We got footage of Mr. Garibaldi removing intruders from his nest area.

Still photo of Bob Cranston with genuine 3 D rig in housing, by Johnny Friday.
